If you are flying someplace and there will not be anyone available to meet you at the airport, you will need to make other arrangements to get to your destination. Sometimes, hotels offer airport pickup, but it may not be available at all hours of the night. You could take a taxi, but can be uncertain during high-traffic hours and overnight. Your best option is to request airport shuttle services. To ensure you receive prompt, courteous service, here are a few things to keep in mind and check when making the arrangements.

Drivers

You want to be sure that the drivers have special training or experience with this type of driving. Ask what the qualifications are for the drivers and if their driving records are checked regularly. You want a driver who is not going to speed or run red lights. You also want one who understands how to appropriately treat you and any baggage you may have. You do not want a driver who may gossip about you or anything they may hear while you are in the vehicle.

Vehicles

You may arrange to have a limo provide your shuttle service, have a town car, or perhaps even an SUV pick you up. Consider what type of luggage you will have and if there will be other people with you when deciding on the vehicle. If you just want to get to your destination and do not require any special treatment, you may be able to arrange service with other travelers going to your destination. This may be a large shuttle bus. When you choose this type of service, the cost is going to be much less than if you are travelling alone.

Dispatch

Because mistakes do happen, you want to be sure that the company you hire has someone available to take calls 24 hours a day. You do not want to end up waiting outside the airport for hours and only be able to contact an answering service.

Once you know your travel itinerary, make arrangements for airport shuttle service. You should also confirm your reservation the day before you will be travelling. You may want to ask for the name and contact number of the person who will be meeting you. If you are detained at the baggage area or anywhere else that will cause you to be late for your pick-up time, be sure to contact either the driver directly or the dispatch person. They do understand problems arise, but need to know when you will be there so they can make arrangements for their next customer. You wouldn't want to be left hanging around, don't do it to someone else.
